- The Interest rate Per Year is the amount of interest charged per year.
- Enter the Interest Rate per Year.
- To enter 10 %, enter 10. Do not enter the % sign.

- The Interest Rate per Year will be on the printed copy or in the saved file.

DATE OF NOTICE OF CLAIM
- The Date of Notice is the date you were made aware a suit was filed.
- If this date is within 180 days of the date of the incident, then interest will begin accumulating on this date. If not, interest will begin accumulating on the 180th day after the incident.
- The Date of Notice of Claim will be on the printed copy or in the Saved File.

- The Date Suit Filed field contains the date the suit was filed.
- If this date is within 180 days of the date of incident, interest will begin accumulating on this date. If this date is later than 180 days after the date of incident, interest will begin accumulating on the 180th day.
- The Date Suit Filed will be on the printed copy or in the Saved File.

NUMBER OF OFFERS EXTENDED
- Enter the number of Offers extended during the course of this suit.
- After the Number of Offers extended is entered, the computer will check to ensure the necessary information is entered.
- The number that was entered in the Number of Offers Extended block will create a spreadsheet with enough rows to allow you to enter the
Offer information.
- The Number Of Offers will be on the printed copy or in the Saved File.
- Detailed information will be displayed with each offer.
- The Offer Information is entered in the spreadsheet. The number that was entered in the Number of Offers Extended block will allow you to enter the same number of offers.
- Enter the Offer Amount in the second column. (Offer Amount) Do not enter the "$" sign or commas. Example: Enter 10000 not $10,000 or $10000 or 10,000
- Enter the Date the Offer was extended in the third column. (Offer Date) Enter the date in the format MM/DD/YY. Example: Enter 03/14/98 not 03-14-98 or March 14, 1998.
- Enter the Date the Offer was withdrawn in the fourth column. (Withdraw Date) Enter the date in the format MM/DD/YY. Example: Enter 03/14/98 not 03-14-98 or March 14, 1998.
- Then click on the CALCULATE button to calculate the information.
- Various checks will be performed on the data. Warning Messages will be displayed on the screen and also written to the Saved File. You can correct the errors if needed and re-calculate.
- Errors checked include:
- 1. Offer Date after Withdraw Date.
- 2. Offer Date before Date of Notice.
- 3. Offer Date before Date Suit Filed.
- 4. Offer Date after Date of Judgment.
- 5. Withdraw Date before Date of Notice.
- 6. Withdraw Date before Date Suit Filed.
- 7. Withdraw Date before Date of Judgment.
- Although the PreJudgment Interest Calculator presents a Warning Message, this does not indicate an error in your entry. For example: You could make an Offer prior to the Date Suit Filed. This is possible (but not common), and PreJudgment Interest Calculator will advise you of the fact.
- The Offer Information will be on the printed copy or in the Saved File.

REFERENCE FIELD
- In the REFERENCE field, enter the a descriptive name.
- This field determines the filename for saved information.
- The information entered in the REFERENCE field will be on the printed copy and in the Saved File.
- The label "REFERENCE" has no meaning to the contents of
the field.
- If the filename exists that you are trying to save another file to, you will recieve a message stating the filename is already in use. You may either write over the old filename or change the filename of the new file.
- The first eight characters must be characters that will allow a valid filename to be created.
- Do NOT enter the following illegal characters:
- +
- =
- /
- [
- ]
- "
- :
- ;
- ,
- ?
- *
- <
- >
- |
- or a SPACE
- If one of these characters are in the first eight characters, the filename will be truncated to the first character prior to the illegal character.
- If this field is left blank, "TEMP.JUD" will be assigned to the filename.
- The label "REFERENCE" is customizable from the Customize Menu Option. If you customize this label, this field will still determine the filename. The other two fields that have customizable labels are File Number and Involved Party.
